Goals Based on Need, Not Curriculum

This session explores the Blume Method approach to developing IEP goals grounded in student needs rather than curriculum content or service categories. Participants will learn how to create goals that address disability-related academic and functional challenges, ensuring alignment with IDEA's requirement to support meaningful participation and progress in the general education environment. Emphasis is placed on naming goals for skill areas, such as communication, self-regulation, and executive functioning, rather than subjects or service types, fostering collaboration and a student-centered focus.
